Ceremony & Style

Below are a few weddings I’ve been a part of, to give you a sense of my experience.

The Stables of Somersby, Central Coast, Australia

My wife and I attended the wedding of two close friends of ours, during which I had been invited to be the official celebrant. The invite came before I had been registered – before I’d considered being a celebrant at all, in fact – and this wedding was the reason I got my registration.

After a year of studying, the wedding came along and took place at the stunning Stables of Somersby – a truly quintessential rustic-barn spot to see (and if you’re lucky, attend a ceremony at). Whilst I didn’t get to do the paperwork this time, I did get to collaborate with Sally (The Mindful Celebrant), and perform an honourary ceremony with the couple, featuring a quick handover for the legal elements.

The ceremony was beneath an iconic tree on the property that drove home the sense of longevity between the families joining together, with a cheeky horse being an additional guest of honour.

Gunners’ Barracks, Sydney, Australia

I had the honour of stepping into the role of MC for a beautiful wedding at Gunners’ Barracks, in Mosman, Sydney. The historic setting overlooking the harbour created a stunning backdrop for a day filled with love, laughter, plenty of banter and roasting, and tons of heartfelt moments.

My role was to guide the flow of the evening — from introducing the bridal party and speeches, to keeping guests entertained and engaged between formalities. What made it especially memorable was all the heartfelt storytelling and light-hearted humour, creating an atmosphere that felt elegant, as well as energetic.

It was amazing to celebrate with the couple and their families, ensuring that everything ran according to plan, and tell a few stories along the way. By the end of the night, the speeches had everyone laughing (and tearing up), and the room felt like one massive family.

Château de Garde, Moulon, France

I had the unbelievable privilege of honouring a wedding in the heart of France’s wine country — Bordeaux. Every ceremony is special, but this one carried an extra layer of meaning for me: the couple were not just clients, but two of my dearest friends, whom I’ve known for over 25 years.

The surrounding area itself could not have been a more perfect backdrop — cobbled streets, sweeping vineyards as far as the eye could see, and golden evening light that seemed to bless the occasion itself (just look at that photo!)

Standing with my friends was more than officiating a wedding; it was weaving together decades of laughter, milestones, and adventures into words that honoured the journey that brought them here.

The celebration that followed was everything you’d imagine from a French vineyard wedding: incredible food, music drifting through the vines, glasses raised high, and a dance floor that carried us late into the night.

To my dear friends – you know who you are ;) — thank you for trusting me with such a profound role in your lives. It was a joy, a privilege, and a memory I’ll cherish forever.
